‘A moving man will one day meet his luck’, Dr McKorley tells men struggling with joblessness

Men facing unemployment and financial hardship should not give up because “a moving man will one day meet his luck,” businessman Dr Daniel McKorley has said.

In a message addressed to men, Dr McKorley, the owner and Chief Executive Officer of McDan Group of Companies, said being broke or jobless “can mess with your mind,” adding that he had experienced the feeling himself.

“People start treating you like you don’t matter. People lose respect for you. Voices ignore you. People treat your opinions with little to no regard. Nobody cares about you and what you have to say,” he said.

Dr McKorley described a phase where men in their late twenties and early thirties remain in their parents’ houses “not because they still want to remain there, but because they can’t even afford to feed themself not to mention paying rent.” He added that those without parents who own houses “have to pay overpriced rent every month.”

He said another phase is “watching yourself get older without any major progress or achievements in life,” which he said “can depress you.”

“Waking up every day with pressure, thinking about money, thinking about how your bills are going to be paid, trying to figure things out… it’s not easy. Going out with hope and coming back empty can really drain you,” Dr McKorley said.

“But don’t stop trying. Even if today didn’t work, tomorrow can. As long as you’re still trying, you’re not finished,” he said.

Addressing men “struggling and looking for a way,” he said, “Keep going and don’t give up on yourself. Things can change, and they will because a moving man will one day meet his luck. The road favours a traveler.”
