Plea bargain negotiations involving businessman and NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, have collapsed in the alleged GH¢30 million EXIM Bank fraud case.
The negotiations reportedly broke down after the State rejected a proposal submitted by Wontumi’s legal team.
Following the failed negotiations, the Accra High Court has given the prosecution 14 days to file its disclosures in the case.
The court’s directive paves the way for the prosecution to formally present the evidence and materials it intends to rely on as the case progresses.
The development comes after attempts by the parties to resolve the matter through a plea bargain failed to produce an agreement.
The case will now proceed through the regular judicial process, with the prosecution expected to comply with the court’s 14-day deadline.
