“My Daughter Scored Aggregate 35 but Didn’t Get Even Her Third-Choice School” – Mother Cries Out
A mother has raised concerns over the Senior High School (SHS) placement process after her daughter, who obtained an aggregate score of 35, was reportedly not placed in even her third-choice school.
The mother, whose concerns were featured in a social media post, said she was disappointed with the placement outcome despite her daughter’s performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
According to the mother, her daughter had selected several schools as part of the placement process but did not secure admission to any of her first three choices.
The development has renewed concerns among some parents over the SHS placement system, particularly regarding how candidates’ examination results, school choices and available vacancies are considered.
The concerns come at a time when parents across the country are checking the 2026 SHS placement results and seeking clarification over placements.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has previously explained that candidates are given the opportunity to select multiple schools and that placement depends on factors including candidates’ results and available spaces.
Parents whose children are dissatisfied with their placements have been encouraged to use designated resolution centres or explore available options where vacancies exist.
