Murder of Indian National: Special Homicide Team Deployed to Further Investigations after Arrest of Suspect

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of an Indian national, Devendra Singh, in Kumasi, and deployed a special team of homicide investigators to support ongoing operations.

A statement issued on April 26, 2026, by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command confirmed that the suspect is in custody and assisting with investigations.

Police said the deceased had earlier been reported missing. On April 25, at about 1400 hours, officers received intelligence that the victim’s vehicle had been located on the outskirts of Sabin Akrofuom, near Royal Lemosey Hospital.

A team dispatched to the scene found the vehicle parked by the roadside. A subsequent search revealed the lifeless body of the victim in the boot, bearing multiple stab wounds.

The Ashanti Regional Crime Scene Management Team processed the scene, and the body was conveyed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. The vehicle has been impounded for further forensic examination.

The Inspector-General of Police has since deployed a special team comprising intelligence and homicide officers to reinforce the Ashanti Regional Command and facilitate the arrest of all persons linked to the crime.

The Police Service assured the public of its commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice and urged individuals with credible information to report to the nearest police station.

The incident occurred within 24 hours of the discovery of the body. Authorities have yet to disclose the identity of the suspect or establish a motive. Investigations remain ongoing.
