KETA YOUTH Association Presents Petition to Keta MCE Over Roads, Market, and UHAS Pharmacy Project

The Keta Youth Association has formally presented a petition to the Municipal Chief Executive for Keta, Mr. Wisdom Seade, over what it describes as pressing infrastructural and development concerns affecting the township.
Led by the President of the Association, Benard Rhusia Worlali Awumee, the delegation outlined key issues including the deteriorating condition of roads within Keta, the redevelopment of the Keta Main Market, and growing concerns over the possible relocation of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) School of Pharmacy project from the municipality.
According to the Association, poor road conditions continue to hamper transportation and economic activities within the township, while delays in redeveloping the Keta Main Market are affecting traders and local businesses.
The youth group also expressed concern about reports suggesting that the UHAS School of Pharmacy project could be moved from Keta, describing the project as critical to healthcare delivery, job creation, and the socio-economic development of the area.
Speaking during the presentation of the petition, Mr. Awumee said the Association remains committed to advocating for transparency, equitable development, and the protection of strategic projects vital to the progress of the community.
“The Association remains committed to advocating for transparency, equitable development, and the protection of strategic projects vital to the progress of the town,” he stated.
The petition, which has been copied to relevant authorities, also issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Municipal Assembly and other stakeholders to convene a stakeholder engagement to address the concerns raised.
The Association warned that failure by authorities to act within the stipulated period would compel the youth to pursue “all lawful and democratic means necessary to press home the concerns of the people of Keta Township.”
Receiving the petition, the Municipal Chief Executive assured the delegation that their concerns would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for consideration.
He reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to engaging stakeholders and pursuing development initiatives aimed at improving living conditions in Keta.
The development has sparked renewed public discussion on infrastructure challenges and the future of major development projects within the municipality.
