High Court Adjourns Adu-Boahene Trial Pending Supreme Court Injunction Ruling

The Accra High Court has adjourned the trial of former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene, and his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng, to August 25, 2026.
The adjournment follows an application before the Supreme Court seeking an order to restrain the trial court from continuing proceedings during the legal vacation.
The Supreme Court is expected to hear the injunction application on August 20, 2026. The High Court has consequently put the trial on hold pending the apex court’s determination of the matter.
Adu-Boahene and his wife are facing prosecution over allegations involving the diversion of GH¢49.1 million reportedly intended for the procurement of a cyber-defence system.
Adu-Boahene has pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. These include defrauding by false pretences, wilfully causing financial loss to the state, using public office for personal gain and obtaining public property by false pretences.
The case has attracted significant public attention because of the substantial amount of money involved and the former NSB director’s position as a senior public official.
The latest adjournment means the substantive trial will remain on hold until the Supreme Court determines whether the proceedings should be restrained during the legal vacation.
The outcome of the Supreme Court’s ruling on August 20 is therefore expected to determine the next step in the proceedings when the matter returns before the High Court on August 25.
