Abor Citizens Call for Fairness Over 24-Hour Economy Market and UHAS School of Pharmacy Projects

Residents of Abor have urged the public to avoid politicising the siting of the proposed 24-hour economy market and the UHAS School of Pharmacy in the town.
In a statement, Abor Citizens said it was unfortunate that debate on social media had turned divisive, with some suggesting that major projects should be located only in Keta Township because of the constituency’s name.
“For many years, several major projects and investments within the constituency have been concentrated in Keta, while other communities such as Abor, Afiadenyigba, Anyako, Tsiame, Atiavi and surrounding towns received little attention or development,” the statement read.
The group said residents of these communities had remained supportive because development anywhere in the constituency ultimately benefits all.
“Development should not be viewed through the lens of jealousy, rivalry, or political emotions. Every town in the constituency deserves growth, opportunities, infrastructure and institutions that will improve livelihoods and create jobs for our youth,” it added.
The statement argued that if Abor had been selected for projects like the 24-hour economy market and the UHAS School of Pharmacy, it should be seen as a step toward balanced development, not a cause for opposition.
“Let us support development wherever it comes. Tomorrow another community may also benefit from equally important projects. Unity and fairness must guide us, not division,” the group said.
Abor Citizens called on the public to stop what they described as unnecessary attacks and instead focus on how the projects could bring progress to the entire Keta Constituency.
