Central Tongu NPP Chairmanship Aspirant Pledges Unity, Welfare Reforms Ahead of 2028

Mr Fiagbenu Guggisberg, an aspiring Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Central Tongu Constituency, has pledged to implement reforms aimed at strengthening party structures, promoting member welfare and enhancing the party’s electoral prospects ahead of the 2028 general election.
Addressing delegates and party supporters during a campaign engagement, Mr Guggisberg said the NPP in Central Tongu required renewed leadership capable of fostering unity, inclusiveness and effective grassroots mobilisation to reposition the party for victory in future elections.
He noted that internal divisions and the perceived neglect of some dedicated party members had contributed to dissatisfaction within the constituency, stressing the need for a leadership approach that prioritised the welfare and aspirations of members.
According to him, several qualified party faithful who had successfully completed tertiary education and professional examinations were unable to secure employment opportunities during the party’s previous administration, a situation he described as discouraging to loyal members.
“We deserve better than empty promises and the status quo. Progress requires action and change requires your voice,” he said.
Mr Guggisberg pledged to work closely with constituency executives, elders and other stakeholders to establish the first permanent constituency office for the party, explaining that such a facility would improve administration, coordination and engagement with members.

He also announced plans to introduce a comprehensive welfare scheme to provide assistance to members during periods of illness, bereavement and other unforeseen challenges.
The chairmanship hopeful cited his personal support to party members over the years, including assistance with medical bills, funeral arrangements and financial support to bereaved families, as evidence of his commitment to the wellbeing of the party’s grassroots.
He further assured members that families of party faithful who lost their lives, as well as those who sustained injuries during the constituency campaign launch accident at Kpedzeglo, would receive the necessary support under his leadership.
Mr Guggisberg described unity as the foundation of every successful political organisation and pledged to pursue policies that would promote cohesion, mutual respect and active participation among all members regardless of their affiliations within the party.
He said his vision also included developing strategies to make the NPP more appealing to voters across the constituency, increasing the party’s electoral support base and positioning it to secure its first parliamentary seat in Central Tongu.
The aspiring chairman further pledged to lobby for employment opportunities for qualified party members when the NPP returns to power, noting that economic empowerment would improve the livelihoods of members and strengthen the party’s welfare system.
Mr Guggisberg appealed to delegates to endorse his candidature in the upcoming constituency elections, expressing confidence that a united and revitalised party would be well-positioned to recapture political power in 2028.
“Together, we can build a stronger, more united and forward-looking Central Tongu NPP that offers hope and opportunities for every member,” he stated.
