Contractor on Dzodze -Tokor Road Deploys Concrete on “The Big Push” Road Project at Segbe Aka Dam to Boost Durability

The contractor working on the Dzodze-Torkor Road under the “The Big Push” programme has started deploying concrete and other high-quality materials on key sections at Segbe Aka Dam to improve durability.

The upgrade targets parts of the stretch frequently used and parked on by heavy-duty vehicles along the Segbe Junction route. Officials said the aim is to strengthen the road surface, reduce rapid wear, and cut long-term maintenance costs.

Engineers on site said the material choice responds directly to the heavy axle loads and traffic patterns that have caused deterioration on the route in the past.

“The goal is to deliver a road that can withstand daily pressure from heavy vehicles without breaking down quickly,” a project supervisor said. “That’s why we’re using stronger materials on the critical sections.”

The Segbe Aka Dam section forms part of the wider Dzodze-Torkor Road upgrade under the government’s “The Big Push” infrastructure initiative.

Drainage works and base preparation are also ongoing on adjacent portions.
