Former assembly member demands transparency from Keta, Ketu South and Anloga MCEs ahead of one-year anniversary

A former member of the Keta Municipal Assembly, Gilbert Korbla Keklie, has called on Municipal and District Chief Executives (MCEs) in the Keta, Ketu South and Anloga areas to publicly account for their stewardship as they mark one year in office.

In an open communication addressed to the leadership of the Keta Municipal Assembly, Ketu South Municipal Assembly, and Anloga District Assembly, and monitored by ShineMeGh.com, Mr Keklie emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and good governance.

Mr Keklie is urging the chief executives to release detailed information on their administrations’ performance since assuming office. Among the key issues he wants disclosed are:

The total debts inherited at the start of their tenure, the amount of District Assembly Common Fund received so far, a comprehensive breakdown of projects executed, including locations, contractors, and contract values, details of ongoing projects with similar specifications.

He also requested that findings from community accountability engagements, particularly those involving Landing Beach Committees, be included in the disclosures.

The former assembly member recommended that the information be made easily accessible to the public, either through official websites or formal media briefings, to ensure citizens remain informed about local governance and development efforts.

Mr Keklie further warned that failure to provide the requested information could lead him to invoke Ghana’s Right to Information (RTI) law to compel disclosure.

The call comes at a time when public interest in transparency at the local government level continues to grow, with stakeholders increasingly demanding accountability in the use of public funds and execution of development projects.

Observers say such demands reflect a broader push for openness and citizen participation in governance, particularly at the municipal and district levels.
