Ghana announces free visas for all African countries from May 25

Ghana is set to introduce a free visa policy for all African countries starting May 25, 2026, as part of its commitment to Pan-Africanism and regional integration.
The policy, announced by President John Dramani Mahama, will allow African travellers to obtain e-visas online free of charge, aiming to boost tourism, strengthen trade, and enhance Ghana’s appeal as an investment destination.
This move positions Ghana among a small group of African countries offering visa-free entry to all African passport holders, aligning with broader continental efforts to promote free movement under frameworks such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The policy is expected to strengthen trade links across the continent, increase tourist arrivals, and create more opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs.
Ghana’s decision is part of a broader e-visa reform programme aimed at improving access while maintaining national security.
The country has already signed 23 visa waiver agreements to improve travel access for Ghanaian passport holders.
Other African countries offering visa-free access to all African nationals include Benin, Rwanda, The Gambia, and Seychelles.
