Motorcyclist appeals for support for reconstructive surgery after accident

A commercial motorcyclist at Akatsi in the Volta Region is appealing for public assistance to undergo reconstructive surgery after sustaining severe injuries in a motor accident in July 2025.

Mr. Saviour Kwame Nanewortor was involved in the crash on July 22, 2025, resulting in major skull and neurological injuries which have left him partially paralysed on the left side of his body.

He has since been unable to return to work and requires support for basic daily activities.

He was referred to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) where specialists recommended head and plastic reconstructive surgery estimated at GH¢52,000 to aid recovery and prevent further complications.

According to family sources, the 40-year-old father of four continues to experience persistent pain and physical limitations several months after the incident.

“He has made progress with the initial treatment but needs the next phase of surgery to improve his condition,” a family representative told the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

The family further indicated that the financial obligation has posed a significant challenge, prompting an appeal to benevolent individuals, corporate bodies, institutions and philanthropic organisations to consider assisting in meeting the cost of the surgery.

Mr Nanewortor previously earned his income as a commercial motorcyclist, popularly known as ‘Okada’ rider, supporting his wife and four children.

With his current condition preventing him from working, concerns have also been raised about the welfare of the household.

The family expressed gratitude to health personnel and members of the public who have offered support since the accident, noting that any assistance towards the medical intervention would be acknowledged.

Contributions may be made via Mobile Money on 0592225576 in the name of Saviour Kwame Nanewortor.

The family has also encouraged prayers and public awareness to support Mr Nanewortor’s recovery process.
