Assembly member, traders call for improved revenue mobilisation at Adidome Central Market

The Assembly Member of the Adidome Central Electoral Area, Mr Guggisberg Fiagbenu, in collaboration with the leadership of the Adidome Market Women have appealed to the Central Tongu District Assembly to consider a proposal aimed at improving revenue mobilisation at the Adidome Central Market.
In an appeal addressed to Mr Dodzi Addison Mornyuie, the Central Tongu District Chief Executive, Mr Fiagbenu said the proposal was intended to support enhanced revenue collection and contribute to addressing some of the challenges confronting the market.
He explained that, subject to approval, a joint bank account would be established to promote transparency and accountability in the management of revenue generated from the market.
Mr Fiagbenu said the proposed account would have the District Coordinating Director, the Market Queen Mother and the Assembly Member for the Adidome Central Electoral Area as signatories, as captured in a resolution letter.
Madam Rabi Musah, the Market Queen Mother of the Adidome Central Market, expressed support for the proposal, describing it as a collaborative approach that could help strengthen coordination and improve revenue management at the market.
She said a transparent system, supported by effective oversight, would help channel market revenue into priority needs, including sanitation, maintenance and the general welfare of traders and patrons.
Some traders at the Adidome Central Market, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency, also welcomed the proposal but stressed the need for strong accountability measures in the management of market funds.
They said concerns about transparency and the prudent use of revenue remained important and expressed the hope that any approved arrangement would include clear reporting mechanisms, regular stakeholder engagement and assurances that funds mobilised would be applied strictly to improving market facilities and services.
