A Legal Team Member of the National Democratic Congress, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo has asked Prosecutors to withdraw charges against Madam Cecilia Dapaah’s househelps because their (prosecutors) character have been implicated.
Speaking on TV3, New Day, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo said Madam Cecilia Dapaah as the complainant in the case has alleged a misrepresentation of facts in regards to the amount reported stolen, hence withdrawing the charges is the only way to vindicate themselves.
“This woman (Cecilia Dapaah) is claiming that there are inconsistencies, do you know what she is effectively doing? she is impugning the integrity of the prosecution. When the complainant says that the number that was put in the charge sheet, invoking the jurisdiction of the court is a work of imagination, it’s fictional, it is not true, inconsistent with what she, the complainant gave to them(prosecutor), effectively, she is impugning the integrity of the prosecutors. If these prosecutors have any respect for themselves, what they should be doing is to withdraw the entire charges against the accused persons.” He said.
The legal team member explained that, when a complainant establishes that she never said $1m of her money was stolen but the prosecution decided “through imagination to put that number there”, the prosecution’s integrity is in disrepute.
Edudzi Tameklo said it is a consistent trend with the Nana Addo led administration where they deny any wrong doing even when caught in the act.
“This is a consistent character within this government, even when they are caught stealing, they will say, no, we are only taking it.”
