We won’t give NDC the aggressive platform they are seeking — Afenyo Markin

Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin, has asserted that the ruling party and the NPP caucus will not give the opposition NDC the aggressive platform they crave.

Afenyo Markin, while addressing the media in the chamber of the parliament on the position of the “majority,” stated that the NPP caucus will not engage in any lawlessness.

He further emphasized that they still hold the position as the Majority in parliament and hence will wait on the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to call for the official sitting of the house.

While addressing the media, Afenyo Markin said, “There was a decision made by the speaker voicing his opinion per Article 97. And that opinion has vacated some members from their seats. I brought to his attention that there was a suit at the court.

“As a result of his decision, the majority expressed disagreement and gave an indication the matter would be pursued at the court. On Friday, the Supreme Court ruled that the speaker’s interpretation was wrongful and that the Parliament will stay in awaiting the decision of the Supreme Court.”

The NPP Majority leader further expressed disappointment in the opposition NDC for using unprintable words on the Supreme Court due to its ruling.

“We’ve heard the opposition say they disagree and have been using unprintable words on the Supreme Court.”

According to him, the NPP is a law-abiding party adding that he is counting on the speaker to make the right decision while emphasizing that the NPP is a peaceful party.
