The 2024 Flag-bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama has tasked the NDC and Ghanians to remain ‘eternally vigilant’ to prevent any sinister plot by the electoral commission to alter the 2024 election results.
“The New Patriotic Party led by President Akufo Addo, has shown that they are prepared to resort to electoral manipulation through the pliant and partisan leadership of the electoral commission to hang on to power”
Mr. Mahama urged the party faithful and Ghanians to remain alert and not allow the NPP and the electoral commission to subvert the will of the people.
“It is our responsibility to give expression and manifestation to the desire of the Ghanaian people for change by remaining eternally vigilant. And ensuring that the change is secured through democratic means and that no effort at undermining the change through rigging or other forms of manipulation will succeed”
Mr. Mahama said the insistence of the Electoral commission to use the Ghana card as the only Identification for the 2024 election is a demonstrable sign to prevent legitimate citizens from exercising their constitutional rights.
Even more worrying for the NDC is the fact that the National identification authority has not been able to issue the Ghana card to every Ghanaian who has applied for the Ghana card.
There are reports of people who are still in queue waiting for their Ghana card 18 months after they applied.
