Public must know where Sedina Attionu is being held – Senyo Hosi

Convenor of the One Ghana Movement, Senyo Hosi, has called on the government to clarify the whereabouts and custody status of former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Chief Executive Officer, Sedina Attionu-Tamakloe, amid growing public debate over her return to Ghana.

His comments follow reports that Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu was extradited from the United States to Ghana on Tuesday, June 9, as part of efforts to enforce a 10-year jail sentence related to her conviction.

Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, June 20, Senyo Hosi stressed the need for state institutions to be transparent and proactive in addressing uncertainty surrounding her detention.

He argued that transparency in high-profile accountability cases is crucial to maintaining public trust in the justice system, especially in situations where past controversies have raised concerns about selective enforcement and fairness.

“They must take every step to prove to the people that accountability is being served. It doesn’t mean that she will be in jail forever,” he said.

He added that if sections of the public believe there is selective justice, government must work to correct that perception to strengthen confidence in governance.

“If people are doubting and have reason to believe that there is selective justice in this matter, the government must purge itself of that perception because the governance processes must be seen to be delivered,” he stated.

Senyo Hosi further noted that public confidence is strengthened when authorities act with openness, particularly in cases involving former public officials and allegations of financial misconduct.

He warned that any perception of secrecy or inconsistent enforcement could undermine trust in accountability processes, urging state institutions to address concerns decisively.
