Police investigate unauthorised use of police uniform following viral video

The Ghana Police Service has initiated investigations into the unauthorised use of Police uniform, following the circulation of a viral video on social media.

In a statement monitored by Shinemegh.com, the Service confirmed that a suspect, identified as Esther Obasi, has been taken into custody by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team to assist with ongoing inquiries.

The individual was seen in the video wearing official Police camouflage and a standard black Police uniform, a development that has raised concerns regarding the handling and control of Service attire.

Preliminary investigations point to a connection between the suspect and a serving Police officer, who has since been invited to support the investigative process.

The officer indicated that the uniform had been handed over to the suspect for washing.

The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to upholding professional standards and ensuring strict accountability in the use and custody of official uniforms.

The suspect remains in custody, assisting with investigations.
