ORAL report on stolen state assets will shock Ghanaians – Ablakwa

Chairman of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) committee, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has disclosed that the team has uncovered damning evidence exposing state capture during the previous administration.

According to Ablakwa, a report detailing this evidence, soon to be submitted to President John Dramani Mahama, will leave Ghanaians in utter shock.

It will be recalled that on December 18, 2024, ahead of his official inauguration, President Mahama appointed a five-member team to spearhead preparations for the implementation of Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) during his tenure.

The team, chaired by North Tongu MP Ablakwa, was tasked with gathering information from the public and other sources on suspected corruption cases in preparation for the rollout of ORAL. Other members of the team included former Auditor-General Mr Daniel Domelevo, COP (Rtd.) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, private legal practitioner Mr Martin Kpebu, and investigative journalist Mr Raymond Archer.

Addressing journalists in the Eastern Region, Ablakwa emphasised that the team had conducted extensive work, aided by anonymous reports, to ensure justice is served.

He stated:

We will not disclose the nature of our achievements until we have presented our report to His Excellency the President. When we present our report, the Ghanaian people will see the tremendous work that has gone on—the extent of the loot and how all of us have worked successfully to ensure the evidence is coordinated for action by our Attorney General and other institutions.

Meanwhile, the ORAL committee’s mandate has been questioned by some members of the public, including Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin. He argued that the committee is unnecessary and is being used to propagate a personal vendetta against previous government appointees.
