Man Jailed for Stealing Church Instruments in Hohoe

A 27-year-old man, Mohammed Fatiu, has been convicted and sentenced for unlawfully entering a church premises and stealing musical instruments in Hohoe, located in the Volta Region.
According to a press release issued by the Volta North Regional Police Command on June 9, 2026, the incident occurred on June 5, 2026, when the suspect was spotted near the Faith International Ministry Church carrying a sack filled with various items. His suspicious behaviour prompted a witness to inspect the contents of the sack.
The inspection revealed several church-owned musical equipment, including an amplifier, an equalizer, a mixer, and a crossover machine.
Police arrested the suspect and transported him to the Hohoe Police District Command, where he reportedly admitted to the offences during investigations.
Appearing before the Hohoe Circuit Court on June 8, 2026, Mohammed Fatiu pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful entry and stealing. The court sentenced him to three years’ imprisonment for unlawful entry and four years for stealing. The sentences are to run concurrently.
The Volta North Regional Police Command has urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious criminal activities to the police for immediate action.
