Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has revealed that the much-publicised reunion of the P-Square music duo was never a genuine reconciliation, describing it as a “fake reunion.”
Speaking in a lengthy video shared on his official Instagram page, Mr P recounted the events that led to his temporary reconciliation with his twin brother, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, after years of public disagreements.
The brothers initially split in 2017 before reuniting in 2021. However, their relationship reportedly deteriorated again amid fresh disputes involving their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
According to Mr P, the reunion began after he returned to Nigeria from Atlanta and received a message from his caretaker, informing him that Paul had apologised and was seeking forgiveness.
“It was a fake reunion. I came back from Atlanta. Before we landed, I got a message from my caretaker that I should forgive Paul because he had apologised,” he said.
Mr P explained that he tried calling his brother but was unable to reach him. Upon arriving home, he found members of Paul’s team waiting for him. He added that his wife later informed him that Paul had visited their home around 4 a.m., appearing frightened and emotionally exhausted.
He said he was encouraged to make the next move since Paul had already reached out, leading to an emotional embrace between the brothers.
The singer revealed that although the reunion was celebrated by family members and fans, he never intended to revive P-Square as a music group.
According to Mr P, Paul expressed interest in bringing the iconic duo back together, but he declined, insisting that his priority was to restore their relationship as brothers rather than resume their musical partnership.
Mr P also disclosed that Jude Okoye later suggested they record a video announcing the reunion for fans, a proposal he reluctantly accepted despite his reservations.
While many fans viewed the reunion as a fresh start for P-Square, Mr P said he remained unconvinced, recalling that Paul had insisted on bringing back the group, saying, “Forget Rudeboy, forget Mr P, bring back P-Square.”
Mr P maintained that his goal had always been to heal family relationships, not to revive the P-Square brand, adding that the reunion ultimately failed to resolve the deeper issues between the brothers.
