EC finally releases official results of presidential election from 275 constituencies

The Electoral Commission of Ghana has officially released the accurate results for John Dramani Mahama and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 presidential elections, following the compilation of data from 275 out of 276 constituencies.

Mahama, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), secured 56.42% of the valid votes, defeating his closest rival, Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who received 41.75%.

The final vote count saw Mahama earning 6,591,790 votes, while Bawumia garnered 4,877,611 votes. This victory marks Mahama’s return to the presidency after stepping down in 2017.

In addition to the main contenders, independent candidates Nana Kwame Bediako and Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen secured 88,944 and 32,457 votes, respectively.

Smaller parties such as the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and the All People’s Congress (APC) also had their candidates in the race, though their results had minimal impact on the overall outcome.

The voter turnout was recorded at 63.97%, with 11,931,420 ballots cast out of 18,774,195 registered voters.

However, 247,937 ballots were rejected, marking a slight increase in invalid votes compared to previous elections.

While results from 275 constituencies were compiled, the Ablekuma North constituency has yet to submit its final count. The Electoral Commission assured the public that this would not alter the final result.
