Former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah has instructed her lawyers to demand an apology and a retraction from Joy Fm and the multimedia Group or face them in court.
According to a letter addressed to the multimedia group, Cecilia Dapaah through her lawyers are demanding a retraction of the report which stated the amounts found in Cecilia Dapaah’s home and various bank accounts.
On the 10th of August, Joy News reported that the Office of the Special Prosecutor had disclosed the amounts of money in the frozen bank accounts of former Sanitations Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
The report said $5 million, ¢48 million were found in Cecilia Dapaah’s Prudential Bank accounts.
Also, it found ¢1 million cedis in investments and ¢700,000 in cash in her Societe General account.
In addition, Joy news reported that Kissi Agyebeng’s Office revealed that a cash amount of $590,000 was discovered during the search at her Abelemkpe home and a sum of ¢2,730,000 in cash was also found at the same residence.

This Cecilia Dapaah’s lawyer’s claim are false;
“At about 12:30 pm on the 10th of August, your outlet reported a story titled “OSP tracks $5m, finds GHC48 in Cecilia Dapaah’s prudential Bank accounts. Not only has the OSP not disclosed any amounts found in our client’s accounts but the assertion that our client’s account contain $5M is false” Parts of the statement from Cecilia Dapaah’s lawyers read.
The lawyers further stated that even though the “OSP via one of its verified social media handles dispelled the claims that it had revealed any specific amounts of monies found in our client’s bank accounts” Joy FM and other channels belonging to multimedia kept publishing the false story from “unidentified sources, describing the action as “a reckless disregard for truth and accuracy”.
“The figures you have published about the sums in our client’s account are false and you have continued to push these falsehoods”
The Multimedia report was carried by several media outlets who attributed it to a source, this Cecilia Dapaah’s lawyers claim are false and are demanding an apology within three days of the receipt of the letter dated, 11th of August, 2023″
“We are by this letter demanding that your outfit retracts the false information it has published her and apologizes to our client within three days from the delivery of this letter” failing which we have our client’s instructions to institute a legal action to bring the full force of the law to bear on your outfit for the damage and injury your reportage has caused and keeps causing.”
Joy Fm, Multimedia have up until Monday the 14th of August to retract or face the legal action against them.
It is unclear why the Former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources’ Cecilia Dapaah has singled out multimedia for the legal battle.
