Businessman tried to influence calls for Ken Ofori’s dismissal — Kyei Mensah-Bonsu
The majority leader and minister for parliamentary affairs, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, has disclosed that he was informed that a businessman visited Parliament to speak with a few members of the majority caucus about the issue and to try to get Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta fired.

He claims that “I [do not] know about any incentives that anyone may be providing. I [was] informed by a higher authority that a businessman attempted to conduct something here. I know he is a successful businessman.”

In view of the nation’s current economic condition, which has caused the government to seek assistance from the IMF, a number of Ghanaians, notably Members of Parliament (MPs) on the Majority side, piled pressure on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to remove Ken Ofori-Atta from office.
The NPP MPs expressed their frustration and demanded the resignation of the two Ministers, claiming that numerous attempts to get the administration to address the needs of their constituents over the failing economy had failed.
The MPs firmly believe that dismissing Ofori-Atta and Adu Boahen will contribute to regaining public trust in Ghana’s financial system.
