A major focus of my Presidency will be agriculture – Bawumia
Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has given a strong indication that his government will give importance to agriculture.
He made this known while touring the Volta Region of Ghana.
The NPP flagbearer noted that per the data, 60% of Ghanaians are engaged in agriculture, hence the need for investment in the sector.
He indicated that it will be important to invest in the sector to improve on productivity and this will be done by “establishing District Agric Mechanization Centres across the country, we will also facilitate the setting up of area-appropriate factories to add value and reduce post-harvest losses arising from a glut in production”.
Making this position known in a post shared via social media, the Vice President said “I continued my campaign tour of the Volta Region in the Ketu North, Ketu South, Akatsi South and Central Tongu Constituencies on Wednesday.
As indicated in my Manifesto, a major focus of a Bawumia Presidency will be agriculture, justified by data which indicates about 60% of Ghanaians are engaged in that vital endeavour.
Apart from establishing District Agric Mechanization Centres across the country, we will also facilitate the setting up of area-appropriate factories to add value and reduce post-harvest losses arising from a glut in production.
Together, we can make this possible”.
