Anloga DCE outlines key achievements after one year in office

Madam Sandra Seyram Kpedor, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Anloga, has highlighted a range of completed and ongoing development projects to mark her first year in office, in response to a recent public call for accountability by Gilbert Korbla Keklie, a former assembly member at Keta.
In a comprehensive update, Madam Kpedor detailed priority interventions undertaken across infrastructure, education, sanitation, health, and local economic development within the period under review.
Key completed projects include the commissioning of the Anloga Taxi Station, rehabilitation and grading of roads in Akplofudzi, and patching works on the Tegbi–Galo-Sota Junction road to enhance accessibility.
Additional improvements were carried out within the Anloga Market through spot rehabilitation of access routes.
Sanitation and community welfare interventions featured prominently, with the distribution of cleaning tools to volunteer sweepers at Dzita, as well as the provision of life jackets to boat operators along critical routes on the Volta Lake to improve water safety.
In the education sector, the administration facilitated the provision of furniture and commissioning of the Latame Basic School, alongside the distribution of textbooks and learning materials to selected schools in collaboration with the Volta River Authority.
Efforts to improve security and visibility also led to the installation of solar-powered streetlights along the Penvito–Nyakpati stretch.
Institutional strengthening measures included the completion of the official residence for the DCE and the facilitation of temporary office accommodation for the National Health Insurance Authority in the district.
On employment and livelihoods, Madam Kpedor reported the empowerment of 255 apprentices with start-up kits in partnership with the Ghana Enterprises Agency, as well as training support for 30 beneficiaries under the National Apprenticeship Programme.
Additionally, 1,000 bags of fertilizer were distributed to 22 farmer-based organisations to boost agricultural productivity.
Access to potable water was expanded to underserved communities including Tsorgbakpoe, Alakple, and Amedzimekope in the Agbledomi area, with support from Global Affairs Canada.
Madam Kpedor further disclosed that several strategic projects are currently ongoing and expected to be completed within the next six months.
These include the construction of CHPS compounds with two-unit nurses’ bungalows at Dzita and Anloga Agorve, new classroom blocks at Woe Afedome, Akplowortorkor, and Sodzi, as well as a 10-seater WC facility at Anloga Atiehpe.
The disclosure of these interventions is being widely regarded as a demonstration of transparency and accountability in local governance, particularly amid increasing stakeholder demand for performance reporting by Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives.
Observers note that the update underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure and improve livelihoods in the Anloga District, as the administration transitions into its second year with a focus on completing ongoing projects and rolling out additional development initiatives.
