The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ketu South, Nicholas Kwabla Worclachie, has outlined a series of development projects and interventions undertaken during his first year in office, describing the period as one marked by steady progress despite challenges.
In a statement marking his one-year anniversary, monitored by ShineMeGh.com, Mr Worclachie expressed gratitude to God, President John Dramani Mahama, and key stakeholders for their support since his appointment.
He also acknowledged the contributions of Volta Regional Minister James Gunu, Member of Parliament Abla Dzifa Gomashie, party leadership, and assembly members who supported his administration.
Mr Worclachie highlighted several infrastructure and social intervention projects completed or nearing completion across the municipality. These include:
A 6-unit classroom block at Akaglakope, ready for commissioning, the Dogbeykope CHPS compound, currently about 75% complete; the Glidzi CHPS project, nearing completion at 90%; completion of the Dodorkope CHPS compound with nurses’ accommodation, planned construction of a 2-unit kindergarten block at Hatsukope, development of a CHPS facility at Aflao Akporkploe, a 3-unit Junior High School classroom block at Klikor Glidzi.
The MCE also outlined major sanitation and land acquisition efforts, including the securing of 50 acres for a landfill site and additional lands for a 24-hour market, an ultramodern market project in Aflao, and a designated burial ground for paupers.
He noted that he personally led clean-up exercises at key locations such as Aflao Victory Junction, Agbozume Gborshime, and Klikor Amen Junction as part of efforts to improve sanitation. Other initiatives highlighted include:
Expansion of rural telephony networks across 14 electoral areas, distribution of dual desks to support education infrastructure, creation and improvement of access roads within the municipality, and ongoing lobbying efforts for major road construction projects.
Mr. Worclachie also referenced his administration’s response to tidal wave disasters, including the provision of tents and relief items, which he said contributed to swift intervention from the central government.
He further disclosed that efforts are underway to tackle water shortages affecting communities such as Agbozume and Tokor, with both short-term and long-term solutions expected to be announced soon.
Reaffirming his commitment to accountability, the MCE stated that his administration continues to adhere strictly to the guidelines governing the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).
While acknowledging progress made, Mr. Worclachie noted that more work remains to be done and called on residents, stakeholders, and development partners to collaborate in advancing the municipality’s growth.
He also commended traditional leader Torgbi Tenuvi for supporting development efforts in the area.
The anniversary address underscores ongoing efforts by the Ketu South Municipal Assembly to improve infrastructure, service delivery, and living conditions within the municipality.
