Alexander Roosevelt Hotordze, Member of Parliament for Central Tongu, is participating in the Parliamentary Conference on the World Trade Organization (WTO) currently underway in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
The conference, scheduled from March 24 to 27, 2026, has brought together legislators from across the globe to deliberate on strengthening the multilateral trading system, promoting fairness in global trade, and enhancing support for developing economies.
Key discussions have centred on emerging areas such as digital trade, investment facilitation, and expanding opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Mr Hotordze, contributing to deliberations, underscored the critical role of parliamentarians in shaping responsive trade policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of their constituents.He emphasised the importance of positioning Ghana to fully leverage ongoing global trade reforms to drive economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development.“
As legislators, we must ensure that international trade frameworks translate into tangible benefits for our people,” he stated.
Mr Hotordze reaffirmed his commitment to advocating policies that would enable Ghanaian businesses, particularly SMEs, to access new markets and compete effectively on the global stage.
The Parliamentary Conference on the WTO serves as a platform for lawmakers to engage with trade experts and policymakers, with the aim of fostering inclusive and equitable global trade systems.
