NPP wanted to sell ECG to their cronies – Vim Lady reveals

Afia Pokua, popularly referred to as Vim Lady, has added her voice to the heated discourse surrounding the proposed privatization of Ghana’s energy sector, a move suggested by Energy Minister-Designate John Abdulai Jinapor.

His recent proposal comes amidst concerns over the growing debt crisis in the sector, which he argues threatens the country’s economic stability.

“If we continue to allow some of these individuals to remain in key positions, the sector will collapse under the weight of corruption,” she remarked.

“There are far too many instances of prepaid meters going unaccounted for, and someone has to answer for this.”

Recalling a similar initiative floated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during their time in office, Vim Lady accused the former administration of lacking transparency and integrity in their approach.

“Before they left office, the NPP also tried to privatize the energy sector, but their motives were questionable,” she said.“
