The young lady in the Wa sekz tape le.a.k has spoken out for the first time about the circumstances that led to her being publicly flog.g.ed by some men at the chief’s palace.
Meira (not her real name) claims she was abducted from her home that day by a group of young men and dragged to the Wa-palace. Na’s
“When the young guys approached me, they told me to accompany them to the palace, and while we were on our way, they continued to beat me until we arrived at the palace,” she told TV3’s Komla Adom, who had traveled to find her.
She describes how the guys in the palace’s courtyard treated her to up to 20 lashes.

“I could hear people yelling, ‘Flog her, flog her,’ from the throng. There was no one to come to my aid.”
Before she arrived, Adnan (not his real name), the young man who was also in the sex tape with her, had been flogged and freed.
“They flogged me 20 times,” Meira said, “and I was terribly hurt with bruises and blisters on my back and buttocks.”
“I was left to my own devices.” I had to call a friend who drove me to the Wa municipal hospital for treatment and paid for it; I believe it cost between 500 and 600 cedis.”
During the discussion, the young lady, who was plainly disturbed, frequently broke down, frequently holding back tears.
Meira has been unable to report to her job as a ticketing and revenue collection clerk at the Wa transportation station because she is afraid of being stigmatized.
Since the incident, she has also abandoned her home.
“After this humiliation and suffering, I am unable to return to the station and work.” I wish I could find a good career somewhere else to support myself.”
The flogg.i.ng according to sources was on the orders of leadership of the palace, as an enforcement of a local law promulgated to ostensibly deal with increasing cases of indecency and publication of nude material by the youth in the Wa municipality.
