When they say Politicians are thieves I don’t get upset because I don’t have $1m stashed in my home – Sam George
The member of Parliament for Ningo Pampram Sam George says he is shocked at the reaction of Ghana Real Estate Developers Association over his comments that the Real Estate industry in Ghana is a conduit for money laundering.
He cited several examples of situations where persons ‘pretending to be dealing in Real Estate have used it as a means to clean their ‘dirty’ money.
The comment angered GREDA who have demanded a public retraction and apology on the matter or proceed to court.
Drawing a comparison to politicians who are labelled as ‘thieves’ by some Ghanaians, Sam George said such comments don’t offend him as he has not stolen a pesewa of public funds.
“When they say politicians thieves, I don’t get upset because I believe the people of Ghana know I have distinguished myself in my public service and I have not taken one cedi of public money in my pocket” I have not misappropriated government funds”
According to the Ningo Pampram MP, the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association are being hypocrites and in denial of a problem that is prevalent and happening right under their noses
“Why they are trying to play the ostrich and be a hypocrite which is the bane on our country where we see the truth and we hate to say the truth and find the solutions to it is why Ghana is in the mess it is we are in today”
When they say politicians are thieves I don’t get upset because I don’t have a million dollars stashed in my home Sam George told Bridget Otoo on News Night on Metro TV Ghana.
