There is nothing wrong about musicians Taking part in partisan politics – Rex Omar
Seasoned Highlife singer Rex Omar, whose real name is Rex Owusu Marfo, there is nothing improper with musicians getting involved in political parties.
In an interview on Property FM in Cape Coast, he said, ““Sometimes I don’t understand because there is no one who was born and assigned specifically to do politics”.
“Nana Akufo-Addo is a lawyer but why is he not in the courtroom practicing his law profession he rather did politics and became our president.
“Former President Mahama is an expert in communication; why wasn’t he told to concentrate on that instead of doing politics and winning the presidency?”
When it comes to politics, the astute Ghanaian musician said he doesn’t understand why, in contrast to other professions, musicians are singled out for criticism.
“I don’t understand why, since there are now teachers in parliament, when musicians attempt to enter politics on their own, people start tagging them.
“People get upset when an artist decides to go solo and get into politics; I don’t understand,” he said to Amansan Krakye. “We have businessmen who are into politics.”
