SONA2025: The state of our nation isn’t good; the economy is in crisis – Mahama insists

President John Dramani Mahama has described Ghana’s economy as being in crisis, with the citizenry facing severe hardships due to rising inflation, high debt levels, and a struggling private sector.
In his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on February 27, 2025, he stressed the urgent need for economic intervention, citing unemployment and a declining standard of living as key concerns.
Mahama assured Parliament and the whole country that his government would implement bold reforms to stabilize the economy, boost local industries, improve revenue generation, and manage public debt effectively.
“My administration is committed to restoring economic stability and bringing relief to households and businesses,” he pledged.
