Rescue your party’s soul before criticising Mahama – Prof. Gyampo to NPP

In a pointed critique, Professor Ransford Gyampo, a Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to reassess its priorities before launching criticisms of the administration of John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking on TV3’s Keypoints program, Professor Gyampo stressed the need for introspection within the NPP, which he claimed is struggling with its own governance credibility.

“The relevance of the NPP now won’t lie in its failed officials quickly criticising Mahama’s administration when they themselves have demonstrated no clue about governance,” Professor Gyampo stated.

His remarks came during a discussion on Ghana’s political landscape, where he addressed the perceived shortcomings of the ruling party.

Professor Gyampo argued that the NPP’s leadership needs to focus on addressing its internal challenges instead of deflecting attention by targeting the opposition.

He advised the party to engage in what he termed “soul-searching” to rediscover its purpose and reconnect with the electorate.

“You must focus on rescuing the soul of your party and leave constructive criticisms to those with permanent interest, not permanent friends,” he added, emphasizing the importance of sincerity and consistency in political discourse.
