Photos: Black Stars begin training in Cape Coast ahead of 2023 AFCON qualifiers

The Black Stars held their first training session on Saturday at the Cape Coast Stadium, ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Several players have already arrived in camp, as the club seeks to shape up in time for four matches in two weeks.

On June 1, 2022, Ghana will play Madagascar at the Cape Coast Stadium before facing the Central African Republic (CAR) four days later.

Following that, Otto Addo’s team will compete in the 2022 Kirin Super Cup, a four-nation event that will involve Japan, Chile, and Tunisia.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) named a 33-man roster for the two qualifiers in June on Thursday.

Captain Andre Ayew, who was suspended for Ghana’s two-legged World Cup playoff games against Nigeria in March, is included in the squad.

Mubarak Wakaso, Abdul Baba Rahman, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Benjamin Tetteh are also back in the team.

Meanwhile, the squad includes two players from the Ghana Premier League: Daniel Afriyie Barnieh of Hearts of Oak and Augustine Okrah of Bechem United.

Antione Semenyo, who was born in England, has also been called up, along with Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Richard Ofori, and Daniel Amartey.
