Ghana’s National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has invited Gifty Oware-Mensah for questioning over her alleged involvement in the NSA payroll scandal, which has sparked national controversy. The former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA) is accused of overseeing fraudulent activities linked to ghost names on the payroll, leading to significant financial losses.
Oware-Mensah, who had been outside the country, returned to Ghana and has expressed her willingness to cooperate with NIB investigators. She has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, calling the allegations false and politically motivated. The investigation aims to uncover how thousands of non-existent service personnel were allegedly added to the NSA’s payroll system, siphoning millions of cedis from the government.
The NSA has also responded, labeling the accusations baseless and unfounded while implementing biometric verification systems and Ghana Card integration to curb payroll fraud.
