NDC embarks on nationwide demonstration on Sep 17 over EC’s nonchalance

The National Democratic Congress(NDC) has announced that it will be embarking on a nationwide demonstration to drum home the need for the Electoral Commission(EC) to do the right thing.

This was announced by the National Chairman of the party, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia after filing the nomination forms at the Electoral Commission’s office in Accra on September 9, 2024.

To Asiedu Nketia, the Commission has decided not to pay heed to their calls for a forensic audit among other things to ensure fairness during the elections.

Therefore, hitting the streets across the country will send home a signal that the people of Ghana are peeved with their posturing.

“You the media people, were with some of the people who intercepted and retrieved one of the stolen BVDs. So far, we don’t have any feedback as to what progress is being made on the case involving those who have allegedly been arrested here at your commission and so on. This all generates some amount of suspicion.

Those of you who have been asking us what if they don’t comply, what will we do? On the 17th of this month, the NDC is embarking on a massive nationwide demonstration in all 16 regional capitals. Descend on the electoral commission offices and we in the cl will descend on the headquarters and present further petitions as to why we think that they should conduct themselves in a manner that will guarantee peaceful, fair elections,” he emphasized.
