Nana Addo is the greatest enabler of corruption – Beatrice Annan

A member of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) communications team, Beatrice Annan, has referred to Ghana’s President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo as the overseer of corruption, clearing corrupt individuals even before inquiries are made into the matter, such as Madam Cecilia Dapaah.

Beatrice Annan, who was appearing on Thursday’s episode of New Day on TV3, claimed that a string of developments under the Nana-Addo-led administration further demonstrated that the President’s public pledge to wage a fierce battle against corruption, galamsey was merely a means to an end.

“When we are discussing issues of corruption, let no one set the President up for an attack because if there is any President who has shown that he is corruption personified, he is the locus classicus of corruption, its Nana Addo, he is the greatest enabler. Look at the Australian Visa Scandal, Ghana’s day of Shame, he cleared the people, the Charles Bissue cases, Prof. Frimpong Boateng even told you that behind your house, galamsey are being dug, they hid the report until somebody leaked it”

Beatrice Annan explained that, despite her declining faith in the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) ability to crack down on corruption and activities related to it, she expects the court to rule in the OSP’s favour in order to facilitate efficient investigations into the case of Madam Cecilia Dapaah.

“I don’t expect any court to grant an injunction against the OSP from performing its statutory functions especially when there is no evidence of abuse of any process, especially when Cecilia Dapaah in her own deposition and caution statement to the OSP, has shown that her statements are very inconsistent and they keep changing at every state in point”
