Mahama appoints Randy Abbey as acting CEO for Ghana Cocoa Board

Randy Abbey, host of Good Morning Ghana, has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board. The formal announcement was made in a letter dated January 21, 2025, signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President.

President John Dramani Mahama made the appointment, which takes immediate effect, in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 12(2) of the Ghana Cocoa Board Act, 1984 (P.N.D.C.L. 81). The decision will be finalized after consultations with the Public Services Commission and advice from the Board of the Ghana Cocoa Board.

In his letter, the President congratulated Dr. Abbey, emphasizing the crucial role the Ghana Cocoa Board plays in the country’s economy. Key stakeholders, including the Vice President, Chief of Staff, Minister of Finance, Minister of Food and Agriculture, and the Board Chairman of the Ghana Cocoa Board, were also copied in the correspondence, underscoring the importance of this appointment.
