Koforidua: Over 50 Pros.t!tutes arrested
Michael Kofi Okyere Baafi, the member of parliament for the New Juaben South Constituency, has threatened to make commercial s.3…r.x work activities in Koforidua, the capital of the Eastern Regional, an unprofitable endeavor.
The increase in commercial s.3..r.x work activities in Koforidua, according to the MP who also serves as the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, has the potential to negatively corrupt young and damage the city’s reputation.
The MP made this commit after approving a police operation in the Koforidua District that resulted in the arrest of approximately 50 commercial s…3r.x workers on Saturday in well-known brothels and ghettos in the regional capital, of which more than 90% are of Nigerian heritage.
Michael Kofi Okyere Baafi, who confirmed the operation and arrest while speaking to worshippers at the Pentecost International Worship Center in Koforidua (PIWC-KOFORIDUA) over the weekend, urged locals, especially landlords, to come forward with information about commercial sex workers in their area so that the police can crack down on them.
“Yesterday, I directed the police to do an operation in town, and so they started the first batch of operation, and we want to arrest all the prostitutes that have come to the town. We managed to arrest about 50 people, and we will put them before the court and about 99 percent of them are Nigerians.”
“Prostitution in Koforidua will not be tolerated, and we urge you to help us to deal with the act in the town,” the MP added.
