Journalists in Kumasi have taken money to make NPP unpopular — Opoku Prempeh

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the minister of energy and member of parliament for Manhyia South Constituency, has charged Kumasi media with accepting payments to undermine the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He claimed that “journalists had accepted money” to harm the NPP’s standing.

Despite the fact that he omitted names, he said that the journalists “sit on the radio to trash the government and the officials” in the Ashanti Region, which is thought to be the NPP’s heartland.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh claimed that the NPP is the only political party in the nation that has the power to transform the area while speaking to the chiefs and residents of Suame in Kumasi at the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a four-tier interchange.

“Even God created us, he requests thanks from us anytime, he does something good for us,” he said.

His comments follow the arrival of numerous vendors at Adum in the central business area who had set up shop to sell their items to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-convoy Addo’s as it was making its way to the Kumasi Central Market.

Market women, hawkers, and artisans wasted little time in expressing their discontent with the current economic scenario upon spotting the vehicles carrying the president and other officials.

As the convoy moves further, the traders and bystanders may be heard in the chorus of jeers.

The NPP stronghold would be a warm welcome for the President, with locals waving their approval and even donating their clothes as a carpet for him to walk on. However, the economic climate under the NPP has changed, which has significantly impacted commerce in the nation.
