I don’t have $5m and GHs48 million in my accounts – Cecilia Dapaah to media

Cecilia Dapaah, a former minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, just isn’t going to stay quiet about the millions of dollars and cedis stolen from her home.

The former minister has refuted media reports that she had $5 million and 48 million cedis in her accounts that have been frozen by the Special Prosecutor’s office in her latest formal statement.

Through her attorney Sam Okudzeto, Cecilia Dapaah revealed that various media reports claiming the stated amounts are inaccurate.

Cecilia Abena Dapaah, the disgraced former minister of sanitation and water resources, has since given Multimedia Groups a three-day ultimatum to retract and apologise for releasing incorrect information regarding the amounts of money in her bank account.

Cecilia Dapaah accused Joy News, a member of the Multimedia Group, in a letter dated August 11th, 2023, of repeatedly publishing material demonstrating that $5 million and GHS48 million had been found in her bank account, even after the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) denied ever disclosing any specific amounts of money found in her bank account.

“From the foregoing, it is evident that your outfit’s consistent reportage of our client’s matter has been steeped in the purported reliance on information from unidentified sources and a reckless disregard for truth and accuracy. The figures you have been publishing about sums in our client’s bank account are false and you have continued to push this falsehood that you attribute to unidentified and unverified sources”

“It is apparent that your outfit coverage and publications are actuated by malice and deliberate/reckless attempt to impute wrongdoing to our client, contrary to the constitution and time-honored principle of the presumption of innocence she is legally entitled to.” Part of the statement states”.

Cecilia Abena Dapaah is accordingly demanding that the retraction be published in the same media or face legal action.
“We are by this letter demanding that your outfit retracts the false information it has published and apologize within three days from the delivery of this letter, using the same means and coverage with which it published the false information”.
