I can’t mingle with a man for long, else they will say I’m having an affair with him — Sista Afia

Musician, Sista Afia has articulated her concerns regarding the treatment of Ghanaian female musicians.
She asserts that they encounter significant challenges in establishing relationships with men, particularly within the industry, because however the moment they interact, others often assume they are romantically involved.
As a consequence of this perception, female artists find it difficult to receive mentorship and the same opportunities that their male counterparts readily access.
Although she was discussing this important topic during an interview on Accra-based Neat FM monitored by mynewsgh, her insights reflect a broader concern about gender dynamics in the music industry.
“Maybe it’s because I am a woman, I can’t mingle with a man for long. The moment I mingle with a man, rumours start flying that I have an affair with him,” she said.
“We can’t even have godfathers or male mentors. The moment we get one, rumours come out that the person is a sugar daddy,” she added.
