I am not tormenting Gyakye Quayson, the law is – Nana Akufo-Addo
President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has said allegations that he is tormenting James Gyakye Quayson is false.
“I am not tormenting Gyakye Quayson, the law is dealing with him, not me. I will not take advantage of the fact that I’m in Government to meddle with affairs outside my jurisdiction, I have never done that, for the past six and half years since I became president, I have never used my position to torment people and I will never do it”
The president who was addressing NPP supporters in Assin North stressed that James Gyakye Quayson’s case is on the same level as the Adamu Dramani Sakande’s case.
An assertion that many lawyers disagree with.
The President while campaigning for Charles Opoku, NPP’s Assin North parliamentary candidate during the By-election said, the laws have caught up with Gyakye Quayson, and, what looks like a torment and frustration is as a result of the entanglement he has with the laws governing the country.
Despite the president’s comment Mr. Gyakye Quayson won the by-election by more than 5,000 votes. He is expected to be sworn in Parliament on 4th July, 2023
