GRHA urged to consider Atigo Bridge upgrade

Mr Guggisberg Fiagbenu, Chairman of the Adidome–Juapong Transport Union and Assembly Member for the Adidome Central Electoral Area in the Central Tongu District, has appealed to the Ghana Road and Highway Authority (GRHA) to consider upgrading the Atigo Bridge at Battor on the Adidome–Juapong Road.
He drew the Authority’s attention to the current state of the bridge and noted that improving it would enhance safety and ensure consistency in infrastructure standards along the road corridor.

Mr Fiagbenu commended the GRHA for recent interventions on the stretch, particularly the reconstruction of the Aklakpa Bridge and the rehabilitation and expansion of the Tsetsekpo Bridge, which he said had significantly improved traffic flow and commuter safety.
He observed that despite the gains made, the Atigo Bridge remained a key structure on the route that required attention to support the growing volume of vehicular movement and to complement ongoing road improvement efforts.
The Transport Union Chairman noted that the Adidome–Juapong Road served as a vital economic and social link, facilitating the movement of people, goods and services between several communities, and therefore underscored the need for uniform and durable bridge infrastructure along the corridor.
Mr Fiagbenu expressed confidence that the GRHA would, within its planning framework and available resources, give the appeal the necessary consideration in the interest of public safety and local development.Copies of the appeal were also forwarded to the Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, for his information and necessary action.
