Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta Wanted for Corruption, Says Special Prosecutor

Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been formally named a suspect in four high-profile corruption investigations by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
These investigations include instances involving Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML), the National Cathedral project, and two other cases.
“Ofori-Atta is now a wanted person and must return to Ghana immediately to face questioning,” Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng said during a news briefing on Wednesday, February 12.
He threatened to take action to force him to return if he didn’t cooperate.
Agyebeng disputed reports that Ofori-Atta had departed the nation for medical care, insisting that the former minister must assist with the current inquiries.
Additionally, he denied rumors that Onori-Atta’s home had been raided by OSP agents on Tuesday, February 11.
Rather, Agyebeng said that the former minister himself orchestrated the raid to deceive the public and undermine the OSP’s inquiries.
As the office steps up attempts to hold public officials accountable for alleged financial malfeasance, the OSP’s most recent action represents a significant breakthrough in the battle against corruption.
