D.I.V. lead to NPP’s defeat in Assin North – Sammy Gyamfi
National Communication Officer of the NDC Sammy Gyamfi asserts that the Assin North by-election win is a fraction of the bigger win the NDC would chalk in the 2024 general elections.
Reminiscing the strategies of the New Patriotic Party and what led to their astronomical defeat, Sammy gyamfi alludes it to a wacky campaign strategy.
” Their messages were three, it’s what I call ‘DIV’, it stands for Deception, Inducement and Violence”
He explained the happenings leading to the Deception, Inducement and Violence
DECEPTION
He explained that “In their campaign, the ‘D’ was, don’t vote for Quayson, he lied to you. They (NPP) were spending about 30 minutes explaining why Gyakye Quayson will go to jail”
INDUCEMENT
“They thought that the people of Assin will sell their conscience and mandate for a pittance for their 200 and 300 cedis most of which were misappropriated by the people they entrusted them with. When we were busy campaigning in the midnights, I would always see them by the roadside eating “chinchinga” (beef sewers) and dancing and drinking beer with their women and all that. Their only hope was that we are going to deceive this people”
VIOLENCE
“You saw how they deployed their hooligans, bandits and their thugs on the election day and how they sort to intimidate us and sort to attack some of us, shot into our cars, vandalized our cars but we and the good people of Assin were resolute throughout the process”
Sammy Gyamfi said the people of Assin saw through the shenanigans, the intimidation tactics of the NPP and chose Gyakye Quayson.
“we demonstrated to them that Quayson was not a criminal but a victim of persecution and that he was not going to jail. We demonstrated to them that a vote for the NPP is a vote for their mis-governance and their misrule which has collapsed the Ghanaian economy which has plunged all of us and the good people of Assin north into untoward hardship”
