Ahiagbah Praises Mahama for Addressing Tidal Waves Relief in 2025 Budget

The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has applauded President John Mahama and his administration for including a GH¢200 million allocation in the 2025 Budget to support victims of tidal waves in the Ketu South constituency.

During the 2025 Budget presentation in Parliament on March 11, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson announced that the government had earmarked funds to aid residents of Agavedzi and surrounding communities who were recently displaced by the disaster.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue on Saturday, Ahiagbah praised the government’s efforts but pointed out the delay in the president’s visit to the affected areas. “I commend the government and the president, even though it took him a long time to come. I was happy he came,” he stated.

He further noted that if the situation had occurred under an NPP administration, critics would have questioned the president’s absence immediately. However, he acknowledged that Mahama’s eventual response was impactful, adding, “He came in a very grand style, he did something good for my people, and I appreciate that.”
