EPA champions environmental sustainability in South Tongu with community health walk
In a bid to promote environmental awareness and sustainability, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the South Tongu district of the Volta Region, organized a community health walk.
The event brought together over 500 residents, students, and stakeholders in the district.
The health walk, which was part of the EPA’s efforts to commemorate its 50th anniversary, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection and sustainability.
Participants carried placards and banners with messages promoting environmental conservation and sustainability.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Derick Ashia Logo, the Area Director of EPA in the South Tongu district, emphasized the need for collective action to address environmental challenges.
“Environmental protection is a collective responsibility, and we need the support of all stakeholders to achieve our objectives,” he stated.
The EPA also used the opportunity to launch its new environmental education and awareness program, which aims to educate residents, especially children, about the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability.
The program also focused on promoting sustainable practices, such as proper waste management, conservation of natural resources, and reduction of pollution.
The health walk ended with a call to action, urging residents to take responsibility for protecting the environment and promoting sustainability.
The EPA also pledged to continue working with stakeholders to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development in the district.
