Apostolic Revelation Society supports flood victims in North Tongu with relief items
The Apostolic Revelation Society (ARS) has supported thousands of flood victims in North Tongu district with two truck loads of relief items.
This donation formed part of the Society’s expedient measures to extend supporting hands to the residents who’s livelihoods were destroyed by the floods in the district.
The items included mattresses, bags of rice, sacks of maize, sacks of beans, cartons of cooking oil, clothes, blankets, sanitary towels, packs of toiletries and bags of sachet water.
Mr. Christopher Foe who led the delegation on behalf of the College of Apostles, and the Board of Trustees for the Church said that the items to were to ensure that the flood victims were given some kind of relief in their time of distress.
“The tradition of our church is to bear the burden of one another. And that is why we are here to support them with these items which would cushion their plight for some time”. Mr Christopher explained.
He mentioned that the leadership of the Church has engaged its members all over to contribute to the support of the flood victims.
Mr. Christopher urged the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency to ensure that every victim benefited from the items.
He also indicated that the Church has measures underway to initiate a livelihood restoration plan to get the victims back to into business.
The Member of Parliament received the items and assured the leadership of the Church that they would be fairly distributed.
He expressed gratitude to the Church for their support and urged them to continue thier humanitarian initiatives in the country.
After the donations, the Mr. Christopher led the delegation with other members present to fellowship and also share words of encouragement, as well as engage the flood victims in choral music session at St. Kizito, one of the camps.
